International scientific and scientific-technical cooperation
On March 26, 2026, an agreement on international cooperation was signed between the Institute of Geology and Geochemistry of Combustible Minerals of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, represented by its Director Andriy Poberezhskyi, and the Mineral and Energy Economy Research Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences, represented by its Director Magdalena Wdowin.
The research project “Study of synorogenic features of tectonic-sedimentary units of the Outer Carpathians (Ukrainian-Polish borderland)” is being carried out within the framework of the agreement on scientific cooperation between the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Polish Academy of Sciences and is scheduled for 2025–2027.
A co-executing institution is the Institute of Geological Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw.
The project leader from the Institute of Geology and Geochemistry of Combustible Minerals of the NAS of Ukraine is PhD in Geology and Mineralogy, Senior Researcher Andriy Poberezhskyi, while the project leader from the Institute of Geological Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences is Dr. hab., Professor Anna Wysocka.
In October 2025, a meeting of the project participants from the Ukrainian and Polish sides was held at the Institute of Geological Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw. During the meeting, a joint research plan for 2026 was developed and agreed upon. A presentation was also delivered by a project participant, Head of the Department of Carpathian Geology Problems, Doctor of Geological Sciences, Senior Researcher Oleh Hnylko.
